What is the Dark Web?
Sydney's Seminar
It’s a digital world, and most of us use social media daily in both our personal and professional lives. With billions of people worldwide using social media and spending hours each day on these platforms, it has become one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways for small businesses to build awareness and connect with potential customers.
At Clark Computer Services, social media has played an important role in helping us reach new clients, build relationships, and share valuable information with our community. Today, you can find businesses using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and more to engage with their audiences and grow their brands.
Key Demographics
Before you start advertising on social media, it’s important to determine your target audience. While different age groups and professions tend to favor certain platforms, the lines have blurred considerably over the last few years. Instead of trying to be active everywhere, focus on the platforms where your customers are most likely to spend their time.
Some general guidelines include:
- Facebook remains one of the best platforms for reaching a broad audience, particularly local consumers and community-focused businesses.
- LinkedIn is an excellent choice for B2B companies, professional services, and organizations looking to connect with business decision-makers.
- Instagram works well for businesses that can showcase products, projects, people, or visual content.
- YouTube is ideal for educational content, demonstrations, tutorials, and long-term visibility in search results.
- TikTok and other short-form video platforms can be effective for businesses targeting younger audiences or looking to increase brand awareness through video content.
Where to Start
We recommend that a typical small business start with marketing on Facebook and Google. To begin on Facebook, navigate to the Facebook Business Suite (https://business.facebook.com/). Here you can set up your page and create a Business Manager account. This tool will help organize posts and manage your business. Keep in mind that you must have a personal Facebook profile to create a Business Manager Account, and you can only make two Business Manager Accounts.
Most modern consumers search online before making purchasing decisions, so your business must appear in local search results. Start by creating and optimizing your Google Business Profile (https://www.google.com/business/). From there, you can add business information, collect reviews, upload photos, publish updates, and help customers find your business more easily.
For many local businesses, a well-maintained Google Business Profile can be just as important as a social media account.
What Do I Post
A key to marketing on social media is to continually make posts and stay relevant to your followers and viewers. You can even publish your posts as advertisements so they show in the feeds of people who aren’t following you. Keep in mind that while social media posts will vary widely by industry, blog posts are a great place to start! Think of topics that your customers may be interested in, and remember the posts don’t have to be lengthy, just interesting enough to capture your viewers’ attention. These can be How-to guides, informational, or the competitive differences or advantages of your products.
Video content has also become increasingly important. Fortunately, creating videos no longer requires expensive equipment or professional production. Short videos highlighting your team, answering common customer questions, demonstrating products, or sharing quick tips can help increase engagement across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms. The goal is not perfection, but to provide useful content that helps potential customers get to know and trust your business.
